Are you a 49ers or Chiefs fan? Can’t make it to the championship game this year? Are you just a big Super Bowl fan in general? Bring some of the experience of the game right into your own home by making these stadium food offerings for your party!
During the 2023 NFL season, quite a few stadiums introduced new food items to their menus for fans to enjoy while attending the games. The options run the gamut from Fritos brisket mac n cheese balls and vegan falafel fritters to mozzarella stick grilled cheese and a breakfast burger with everything in between.
Stadiums are striving to enhance the game experience for fans by providing more varied and fun options than typical stadium food by combining traditional favorites with some creative twists, while also latching onto currently hot food trends. During the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the Buffalo Bills’ Highmark Stadium offered Taylor Swift-inspired food for the Bills-Chiefs game.
The menu included two items: "Bad Blood" Waffle Fries and the "Karma" Quesadilla. The "Bad Blood" Waffle Fries were a 2-foot display of spiced waffle fries featuring each city’s culinary specialty. Half of the fries were topped with Buffalo chicken and blue cheese, while the other half were topped with Kansas City Cattleman’s BBQ pork, coleslaw and bread-and-butter pickles. As for the "Karma" Quesadilla, the item was described as "chicken tenders, bacon and cilantro ranch in a triple-stacked quesadilla, topped with pork-belly chaser."
This year’s Super Bowl arena, Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, has taken its place as a top food experience for fans.
According to a recent study, the food experience at Allegiant Stadium is ranked as the fourth best in the entire NFL. Allegiant Stadium notched a score of 7.35 with 10 being the best possible score. Mercedes-Benz Stadium (home of the Atlanta Falcons) was ranked as the top food experience in the NFL with a score of 7.71.
Some of Allegiant Stadium’s most popular food offerings include fries from Fukuburger and carne asada tacos from Abuelo’s Tacos. Fukuburger serves all-American burgers and food with a Japanese twist. The fries are hot, crisp, dusted with togarashi chili seasoning and then dipped in crack sauce for the finishing touch.
The San Francisco 49ers home arena created a few new premium concessions this year. Levi’s Stadium added loaded “picadillo” sirloin nachos to their repertoire. Tortilla chips are topped with cumin scented beef, cheddar cheese sauce, fried potato hash, cojita cheese and pimento cream.
Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs home, introduced the Tailgater Dog to their menu in 2023. This dish is a hot trend take on a classic concession. A foot-long hot dog is covered in nacho cheese and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The Cheetos add a nice crunch and an extra kick of flavor to a traditional snack.
Food has always enhanced a sporting event. These days, the creative food lends itself to a more elevated experience in the stadiums, but that’s no reason you can’t have the same experience at home. With the above snacks at the ready, sit back, grab a drink and enjoy some good old American football.
